New Music Friday Dat Brass, Davido, Bad Bunny | Features | MN2S

In our brand-new column New Music Friday, we’re giving you a weekly round-up of new music from our extensive roster of artists. Kicking things off this week, there’s a brand-new LP from Dat Brass, a killer track from Todd Terry, and high-profile collaborations from Bad Bunny, Davido and Juice WRLD.

Dat Brass – ‘Dinner’s Ready’

Though the nine gifted musicians that make up eclectic brass outfit Dat Brass come from a jazz background, it’s the bouncing beats and in-your-face attitude of old-school hip-hop that inspires them. Their latest album ‘Dinner’s Ready’ is a culmination of their collective influences that features improvised solos, crunching distorted bass, and incisive lyricism – and of course. the riotous tones of trumpet, trombone, saxophone and sousaphone.

Dat Brass combine a jazzy, bombastic brass-band sound with the trappings of old-school hip hop and rap: turntable skills, boom-bap rhythms and explosive lyrics from a live MC. Their high-octane live shows have been a hit across the UK and beyond – for ‘Dinner’s Ready’ they’ve bottled the fire and energy of their live performance, presenting their bold and brassy sound in its purest form.
The group have just announced an eleven-date UK tour, stopping in St. Albans, Hastings, and Newcastle with a highly anticipated closing party at London’s Camden Assembly.

Todd Terry & Roland Clark – ‘Music Never Stops’

Legend of the NY house scene Todd Terry has delivered a fresh new track this week, collaborating with vocalist Roland Clark on a club-focused heavy hitter and serving as a potent reminder that the music really does never stop. Released on Terry’s InHouse Records, it’s got his trademark classic house sound stamped all over it, with a subtle contemporary edge.

Bad Bunny feat. Drake – ‘Mia’

Latin trap icon Bad Bunny is edging towards world domination at this point: after a banner year that’s seen him smash the U.S. market, release several hugely popular singles and rack up truly astronomical view counts on YouTube, he’s shared a triumphant collaboration with possibly the biggest urban artist in the world right now: Drake. With a video that’s hit 49 million views in under a week, Bad Bunny has hit the Top 10 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart – for the ninth time. There’s no telling what he’ll do next.

Quavo Feat. Davido & Normani – ‘SWING’

Nigerian vocalist, producer and MOBO, BET and MTV Award recipient Davido was born David Adedeji Adeleke in Atlanta, Georgia, but relocated to Lagos at a young age – you can hear this diverse identity in his unique sound, a style which combines the immediacy of U.S. hip-hop and trap with the rhythm and energy of African music.
He’s resurfaced this week with a seductive feature on a track from Quavo’s new solo album. This is fantastic exposure for Davido – Quavo is one third of chart-dominating trap outfit Migos.

Future & Juice WRLD – ‘Fine China

Much-hyped newcomer Juice WRLD has further cemented his position as 2019’s one-to-watch with a joint effort from Atlanta mainstay and rap kingpin Future. ‘Fine China’ is the first glimpse of their upcoming 16-track collaborative project ‘WRLD On Drugs’.
