Artist Spotlight: PHNX | MN2S

We sat down with MN2S Label Services client PHNX to get the story behind his new identity, his production philosophy, and the relentless drive that fuels his work.

In electronic music, evolution is essential. For the artist now known as PHNX, this idea is central to his work. Formerly producing under the alias IAMMRP, he channels a long history with dance music into his new project, with roots in the raw energy of the 90s hard house scene and the tech and progressive sounds of early 2000s Ibiza. He describes his current approach as a “controlled burn,” refining his underground influences to create a space for what he calls “raw emotion and controlled chaos.” This philosophy guides both his productions and his immersive live sets. We spoke with PHNX about this transformation, his artistic vision, and the passion that powers his creativity.

How did you get into music? What is your musical background?

Music’s always been a core part of my life. I started out experimenting with beats and sounds as a teen, playing out in the hard house era of the mid 90’s and just messing around on basic software, but it quickly became something I couldn’t live without. Over the years, I found Ibiza in the early 2000’s and I fell in love with tech and progressive house, visiting the island twice a year every year to see and hear the current trends of music currently occupying the island, taking it home with me which then I dove deeper learning production and eventually shaping a sound and putting the changes into my sets that felt like me.

Could you describe your musical style and creative vision?

I’d say my style sits somewhere between raw emotion and controlled chaos. It’s rooted in underground energy but fused with futuristic, electronic textures. The vision with PHNX is all about pushing boundaries, evoking real emotion, and creating a sonic space that feels both rebellious and transformative.

Tell us about your first release – what was special about that one?

That first release was definitely a milestone, it wasn’t just about putting music out there, it was about owning a moment. It captured a very specific period in my life, and hearing it resonate with others was something I’ll never forget. It made everything feel real and gave me the production bug even more.

PHNX is described as a movement of “fire and transformation”. How do you channel that energy into your performances and productions?

That idea of fire and transformation is at the heart of everything I do. Whether it’s through heavy drops, unexpected turns, or moments that build and break, I try to reflect that energy of rebirth and intensity in every track and live set. PHNX isn’t just a name, it’s a mindset.

Coming from the legacy of IAMMRP, how has your sound evolved, and what elements have you retained or reinvented?

IAMMRP laid the foundation, it was bold, gritty, and unapologetic. With PHNX, I’ve taken that same rawness and evolved it into something more refined but still just as intense. It’s like going from fire to controlled burn, more focused, but still powerful.

Your sets are known for breaking limits and commanding crowds. What’s your approach to building that kind of electrifying connection with the audience?

Connection is everything. I always try to read the room and let the energy guide me. It’s not about playing what people expect, it’s about taking them somewhere unexpected, somewhere emotional. When that clicks, you feel the crowd elevate with you, and there’s nothing like it.

How do you balance underground influences with cutting-edge electronic sounds in your music?

It’s a dance between honoring the roots and embracing the future. I’m constantly inspired by underground culture, there’s authenticity and grit there but I also love pushing the sonic envelope with new tech and fresh sounds. It’s all about blending both worlds without losing the soul.

What can fans expect next from PHNX in terms of new music or live experiences? Any exciting projects on the horizon?

There’s definitely some heat coming. I’ve got new tracks in the pipeline that explore even deeper layers of the PHNX identity, and some live concepts I’m really excited to bring to life. Can’t say too much just yet but big things are brewing.

What advice would you give to anyone thinking of entering the music industry?

Be relentless, be authentic, and trust your gut. The industry can be tough, and trends change fast but if your vision is clear and your work ethic is strong, you’ll find your lane. Don’t chase what’s hot, create what’s real and consistency is key—keep pushing.
