Shalamar to Star in Red Button Special | News | MN2S

Soul superstars Shalamar will star in a BBC Red Button Special first airing this Friday.

We recently chose Shalamar as one of the most current-sounding veteran acts of 2017. The BBC clearly agree, as they have commissioned Shalamar’s very own Red Button Special, airing this Friday on digital TV, BBC Radio 2, and online.

The show is forecast to be seen by two million viewers, all of whom are likely to be wowed by Shalamar’s stellar repertoire and five star performances of hits including ‘A Night To Remember’, ‘I Can Make You Feel Good’ and countless other soulful favourites.

The show will be hosted by BBC Radio heavyweight Sara Cox, who will interview Howard Hewett and Jeffrey Daniel of the band about their illustrious history and influential legacy.

Aside from selling 25 million records worldwide, Shalamar gave even more to the pop culture canon with their pioneering dance moves. Jeffrey Daniel was the originator of the moonwalk, which Michael Jackson made famous. Jeffrey and Michael worked together on the ‘Bad’ and ‘Smooth Criminal’ videos, which Jeffrey co-choreographed with the late King of Pop himself.

After a busy 2016, the band have already lined up some shows for 2017, with UK dates in London and Manchester already planned.
