Hip-hop legends the Sugarhill Gang will take to the stage on Sunday 22nd July at this weekend’s Blackthorn Music Festival.
The countryside festival, located half an hour from the centre of Manchester, will also play host to Pete Doherty, We Are Scientists, Peter Hook & The Light, The Bluetones, and range of other artists from a wide variety of genres.
The Sugarhill Gang will bring a much-needed dose of classic hip-hop to the northern countryside, performing iconic tracks from their back catalogue. No doubt the audience will sing along to ‘Rapper’s Delight’ — a song almost everyone knows by heart, despite its gargantuan length.

The Blackthorn Music Festival gig comes ahead of two more London shows in August and several shows in Europe for the Sugarhill Gang. The group continues to spread the joy of hip-hop’s Golden Age wherever they go, with original and newer members carrying the genre’s torch.
