We take a look at I’m A Celeb 2017 – one of the most eventful series’ yet.
For fans of I’m a Celebrity, there’s no bigger thrill than hearing the first few campmates announced for the jungle (other than maybe hearing the first few notes of the theme tune!) The very best years involve a mixture of well known celebrities and less familiar faces. No matter if we’ve never heard of them until they’re announced, we’ll be deeply invested in their future happiness by five minutes into episode one.
Unlike other reality shows which air only once or twice a week, with Im A Celebrity we get three weeks of unadulterated binge-watching to wallow in. Sadly, the 2017 show has just wrapped up, and we have a whole year to wait until the next time. Don’t think you can wait? Entertainment agencies like ours offer plenty of former contestants eager to speak about their time on the show! Get in touch to find out more about booking a former I’m A Celebrity contestant.
In the meantime, we’ve rounded up five biggest dramas on I’m A Celeb 2017. Check them out below:
Kezia Dugdale
One of the biggest dramas of the 2017 show came before the show had even started. MSP and former Scottish Labour leader Kezia Dugdale signed up to appear on the show despite being a serving politician. She was condemned by some for her choice, while others defended her saying that she would be able to reach a greater audience on the show. One of the first to leave the show, she seems to have weathered the storm by donating part of her fee to charity.
Amir Khan doesn’t know who the PM is
Boxer Amir Khan – who is on the books here at MN2S – put his foot in his mouth when it became apparent that he didn’t know who the British Prime Minister was. He asked if a woman had ever been Prime Minister, suggesting he had forgotten that the current PM is Theresa May.
Toff’s weight loss
It’s not exactly surprising that contestants on I’m A Celebrity often lose some weight – after all, they’re often subsisting on mostly beans and rice. She won’t be the first or the last celebrity to shed some weight in the jungle, but Georgia ‘Toff’ Toffolo has come under scrutiny after appearing painfully slim in some shots. Mum Nicola even told her in an emotional reunion that she needed to eat a burger! The celebrities have been less successful in challenges overall this year than previous participants, meaning that they have earned fewer treats like biscuits and alcohol.
Ant and Dec’s covered up watches
Okay – so it’s not exactly a drama – but one big talking point for I’m A Celebrity fans this year has been that Ant and Dec’ watches are covered up. Co-presenter Scarlett Moffatt revealed that it was done to stop campmates from knowing what time it was. She also told journalists that when she was in the jungle in 2016, the campmates had unwittingly gone to bed at 4pm on one occasion, and the crew had to tell them to get up again.
Georgia Toffolo Wins I’m a Celebrity 2017
The odds-on favourite to win this year’s competition was Georgia Toffolo, and the Made In Chelsea Star was crowned Queen of the Jungle on Sunday 10th December. Her upbeat personality and willingness to get stuck in ensured that the heiress was a firm favourite with the viewing public.
In second place came Jamie Lomas with Iain Lee in third place. Toff said of her win: “Obviously I didn’t think anyone would like me. I’m really taken aback!” She added that it was “overwhelming” and thanked the public for voting her. Toffolo was interviewed by last year’s Queen of the Jungle Scarlett Moffatt, who has proved over the last nine months just what a win on the popular show can do for a celebrity’s career!
