Cannons is an American indie pop band that has made significant strides in the music industry since their formation in 2013 in Los Angeles. The trio, consisting of lead vocalist Michelle Joy, lead guitarist Ryan Clapham, and keyboardist and bass guitarist Paul Davis, began their journey by collaborating online. Clapham and Davis, childhood friends, discovered Joy through a Craigslist advertisement, leading to a fruitful partnership that would define their sound. Their early work laid the foundation for a unique blend of dreamy pop and electronic influences.
In 2014, Cannons released their debut EP, “Up All Night,” which showcased their emerging talent and garnered attention within the indie music scene. Their first full-length album, “Night Drive,” followed in 2017, further establishing their presence with its captivating melodies and lyrical depth. The subsequent EP, “In a Heartbeat,” released in 2018, continued to build on their success, demonstrating their growth as artists and songwriters.
The band’s second album, “Shadows,” released in 2019, marked a pivotal moment in their career. The single “Fire for You” gained widespread acclaim after being featured in the popular Netflix series “Never Have I Ever,” propelling Cannons into the mainstream. This success led to a signing with Columbia Records and a number one spot on the Billboard Alternative Airplay chart in early 2021, solidifying their status as a rising force in the music industry.
In March 2022, Cannons released their third album, “Fever Dream,” which further showcased their evolution as artists. With the anticipation of their fourth album, “Heartbeat Highway,” set for release on November 10, 2023, and the recent single “Crush,” Cannons continues to captivate audiences with their innovative sound and artistic vision, promising an exciting future ahead.
