Olga Korolova, known professionally as Korolova, was born on March 17, 1988, in Chernihiv, Ukraine. Her early exposure to music included British rock and reggae, but a performance by Gabriel & Dresden in 2004 ignited her passion for electronic music, particularly trance. This experience led her to pursue DJing, shifting her focus from a mathematics degree to a music career, despite initial parental concerns regarding the profession’s viability. She began her journey in the electronic music scene under the moniker DJ Da Queen, primarily performing EDM.
A significant turning point in Korolova’s career occurred in 2017 during her performance at Daydream Festival in Mexico. Following her EDM set, she was drawn to a stage featuring artists like Claptone, Boris Breja, and Kölsch. This exposure to melodic techno and progressive house resonated deeply with her, prompting a desire for a change in musical direction. The global pause in live events caused by the COVID-19 pandemic provided the unexpected opportunity she needed to pivot her artistic focus. During this period, she dedicated herself to developing her sound in melodic techno and progressive house under the name Korolova, a move that proved successful.
Since her professional reinvention, Korolova has achieved notable milestones. In October 2023, she launched her own record label and events brand, Captive Soul, which serves as a platform for her releases and features other electronic music artists at curated events. Her productions and collaborations have garnered significant attention, leading to releases on prominent labels such as Tomorrowland Music, Insomniac, Anjunabeats, Ultra Records, Armada, AFTR:HRS, and Get Physical Music. In both 2024 and 2025, she was listed in DJ Mag’s worldwide Top 100 DJs poll, ranking 60th and 50th, respectively. By August 2026, her online presence included almost 300 million views and 900,000 subscribers on YouTube, over 1.6 million followers on TikTok, over 2.2 million followers on Instagram, and approximately 1.3 million monthly listeners on Spotify. She has performed globally, conquering more than 70 countries and playing at major festivals including Tomorrowland, EDC Las Vegas, Untold, NEON Countdown, So Track Boa, and Parookaville. In 2023 alone, Korolova delivered over 100 performances across 50 countries.
