Darkside has evolved from an experimental electronic duo to a genre-bending trio, consistently pushing musical boundaries with their innovative sound and improvisational live performances. After releasing their debut ‘Darkside EP’ in 2011, the experimental electronic duo of Nicolas Jaar and Dave Harrington quickly garnered critical acclaim, with the release earning an 8.0 score from Pitchfork and praise from Resident Advisor and The Fader. Their collaboration began during a tour for Jaars solo album, ‘Space is Only Noise,’ earlier that year. Darkside’s early live performances, notably at Music Hall of Williamsburg in December 2011 and SXSW in December 2012, showcased their ability to transform a three-song EP into an hour-long, captivating set.
Darkside is set to release their highly anticipated third studio album, ‘Nothing,’ in February 2025. Developed through spontaneous jams and collaborative sessions in Paris and Los Angeles, this album is described as exploring themes of negative space, telepathic seance, and spectral improvisation. ‘Nothing’ reflects Darkside’s continued evolution and the integration of diverse musical influences including jazz and kraut-rock, maintaining their creative process rooted in shared history and a playful approach to music-making.
