Aera

Ralf Schmidt, known by his stage name Aera, is a DJ and producer based in Berlin, Germany. He began his professional music career in the mid-2000s, with early releases such as “Angel Of The A7” in 2006 and “Deeds” in 2007, both collaborations with Till Von Sein on Trenton Records. His sound evolved to incorporate elements of house, techno, and experimental electronica, characterized by melodic soundscapes and intricate rhythms. He established himself early on by cultivating a distinct organic approach to production, which has become a hallmark of his artistic identity.

Throughout the 2010s, Aera released a series of EPs and albums on various labels. Notable releases include “Infinite Space EP” (2010) and “Continental Drift” (2010) on Aleph Music, a label he founded. His debut album, “Offseason Traveller,” was released in 2013 on Aleph Music, further solidifying his presence in the electronic music landscape. He continued to release music steadily, with projects appearing on labels like Permanent Vacation and Innervisions. In 2017, he released a self-titled EP on Hivern Discs, followed by his second album, “The Sound Path,” released on Permanent Vacation in 2018.

A significant milestone in his career was launching his own label, Applied Magic. Under Applied Magic, he released tracks such as “Ode To An Empty Dancefloor” in 2020 and the “Applied Magic 007” EP in 2021. In 2022, Aera released “Versions” on Innervisions, a nine-track digital album showcasing a new mix concept. His work demonstrates a consistent output of original productions and collaborations, contributing to his reputation as a respected figure within the global electronic music community.
