Eliot Sumner

Eliot Paulina Sumner was born on July 30, 1990, in Pisa, Tuscany, Italy, to musician Sting and actress Trudie Styler. Raised in Wiltshire, England, Sumner developed an early interest in music, receiving their first guitar at age four or five. They attended Bryanston School and the Fine Arts College in London. Sumner began writing songs at the age of 15 and signed a multi-record deal with Island Records at 17.

In 2010, Sumner released their debut album, “The Constant,” under the band name I Blame Coco. The album, recorded in Sweden with producer Klas Åhlund, keyboardist Emlyn Maillard, and Al Shux, incorporated elements of pop, electronic, ska, and punk music. The single “Caesar” featured Swedish pop singer Robyn. Following their work with I Blame Coco, Sumner explored house music and began releasing music under their birth name. In 2014, they released the EP “Information,” followed by the full album “Information” in 2016. Sumner’s contributions to other artists’ albums include vocals for Sway’s “End of the Road” and Sub Focus’s single “Splash.” Additionally, Sumner works as a DJ under the moniker “Vaal,” releasing the album “Nosferatu” in 2019.

Sumner’s acting career commenced with brief appearances in films such as “Me Without You” (2001) and “Stardust” (2007). Their adult acting debut was in Guy Ritchie’s “The Gentlemen” in 2020. Sumner also appeared in the James Bond film “No Time to Die” (2021) and the thriller “Infinite Storm.” In 2021, they were cast in a recurring role as Freddie in the Showtime drama series “Ripley,” which later moved to Netflix and premiered in 2024. Sumner is also set to play a hitwoman named Kat in the Swedish crime series “Vargasommar” (“Cry Wolf”), premiering in December 2024. In 2010, I Blame Coco was nominated for Best Newcomer at the Virgin Media Music Awards.
