Eliot Sumner

Eliot Sumner is an English musician, songwriter, and actor, known for their work in music and roles in film and television. After releasing their debut album, The Constant, in 2010 under the band name I Blame Coco, Eliot Sumner quickly established themselves as a formidable musician and songwriter. The critically acclaimed album was recorded in Sweden with producer Klas Åhlund, keyboardist Emlyn Maillard, and Al Shux, showcasing Sumner’s distinctive blend of pop, electronic, ska, and punk influences. The album featured the notable single ‘Caesar,’ which included a collaboration with Swedish pop singer Robyn.

In the same year, I Blame Coco received a nomination for Best Newcomer at the Virgin Media Music Awards, marking early industry recognition for Sumner’s musical endeavors. Following the success of The Constant, Sumner diversified their musical output, delving into house music and releasing material under their own name. This new phase saw the release of the EP Information in 2014, which was followed by the full-length album of the same name in 2016. Beyond their solo projects, Sumner contributed vocals to other artists’ works, including Sway’s ‘End of the Road’ and Sub Focus’s acclaimed single ‘Splash.’ Expanding their artistic scope further, Sumner also works as a DJ under the moniker ‘Vaal,’ releasing the album Nosferatu in 2019, showcasing a broader electronic sound.

The Showtime series Ripley, featuring Sumner in a key role, later moved to Netflix, premiering to wide audiences in 2024. Building on this momentum, Sumner is slated to portray a hitwoman named Kat in the upcoming Swedish crime series Vargasommar, translated as Cry Wolf, which is set to premiere in December 2024. These recent and upcoming projects solidify Sumner’s growing presence and compelling performances across both the music and acting industries.
