Ella Mai is a Grammy-winning R&B singer and songwriter known for her hit singles and impactful studio albums. After independently releasing her four-track solo EP, ‘Troubled,’ on SoundCloud in 2015, Ella Mai garnered the attention of American record producer DJ Mustard, who subsequently signed her to his 10 Summers Records label, an imprint of Interscope Records. In 2014, Mai had also briefly auditioned for The X Factor as part of a trio before pursuing her solo path. Under 10 Summers Records, she released three additional EPs: ‘Time’ in February 2016, ‘Change’ in November 2016, and ‘Ready’ in February 2017.
She has since toured extensively, both as a headliner and as an opening act for acclaimed artists including Kehlani, Ariana Grande, and Mary J. Blige. Her television appearances include a sketch on Nickelodeon’s All That on July 27, 2019. Mai continued to build her discography with new music, releasing the single ‘Not Another Love Song’ on October 2, 2020, followed by ‘DFMU’ on January 28, 2022.
Her highly anticipated second studio album, ‘Heart on My Sleeve,’ was released on May 6, 2022, debuting at number 15 on the Billboard 200. Ella Mai consistently showcases an artistry influenced by R&B icons such as Lauryn Hill, Chris Brown, and Beyoncé, embodying a distinctive ’90s R&B sound.
