O’flynn

O’Flynn, whose real name is Ben Norris, is a London-based electronic music producer and DJ. His career began gaining traction in 2015 when his track “Oberyn” was played on Radio 1 by James Blake. This initial exposure was followed by further support from notable figures in the electronic music scene, including Four Tet, who featured O’Flynn’s track “Tyrion” in a Boiler Room set, and Bonobo, who included “TKOTN” in a mix for Fabric’s compilation series. These early endorsements helped solidify his standing as a promising new artist. O’Flynn’s music often incorporates diverse influences, from Afro disco to acid house, showcasing a blend of global sounds.

Over the years, O’Flynn has released music on various labels, including Blip Discs, Ninja Tune, and his own imprint, Hundred Flowers. A significant career milestone was the release of his debut album, “Aletheia,” in 2019 on Silver Bear Recordings. The album was supported by an 18-date UK tour, which further expanded his audience and critical recognition within the dance music community. In 2016, he participated in recording the Mataali drum and vocal troupe Mubashira Mataali Group in Uganda, demonstrating his engagement with world music traditions. His collaborative efforts include “Otomo” with Bonobo, featured on Bonobo’s seventh studio album in 2022. This collaboration was highlighted by Bonobo as a favorite from the album, noting O’Flynn’s contribution of a dancefloor-ready drum section.

In 2021, O’Flynn released his solo studio offering “Talia” on Panthus, his label’s sister imprint. This release received attention from editorial platforms such as Beatportal and Magnetic Mag, recognizing O’Flynn’s production of “blissful house and breaks” in this more reflective work. His touring schedule has included performances at festivals like FLY Open Air, Boiler Room Bristol Propyard, Pukkelpop, and Lost Village, alongside a 4-week DJ residency at London’s Phonox. These engagements reflect his continued activity as both a producer and a DJ, maintaining his presence in the electronic music landscape.
