MARO has successfully built a career as a multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter, recognized for her collaborative work and representing Portugal on international stages. After completing her studies at Berklee College of Music in 2017, MARO relocated to Los Angeles, swiftly launching a prolific recording career as a multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter. A pivotal moment in MARO’s career occurred in 2022 when she won Festival da Canção with her song ‘Saudade, saudade,’ earning her the opportunity to represent Portugal at the Eurovision Song Contest in Turin, Italy. Her performance secured 13th place in the Grand Final, and ‘Saudade, saudade’ subsequently charted in multiple European countries, reaching top positions in Portugal and Lithuania. Following this success, MARO released her studio album Can You See Me? in 2022 and was honored with the Best Pop Performance award at the International Portuguese Music Awards the same year.
Continuing her artistic evolution, MARO released the album Hortelã in 2023, which earned her the prestigious Album of the Year award at the Prémio José Afonso in 2024. As a testament to her ongoing creative output and collaborative partnerships, MARO is slated to release Lifeline with Nasaya in 2025, further building on a career defined by innovation, critical acclaim, and international recognition as a multifaceted artist.
