United Kingdom Masterstepz has established himself as a prominent DJ and producer, transitioning from a decade-long radio career to performing globally and releasing acclaimed music.
Masterstepz is the 'architect of vibes, culture, and sound' for House Of Stepz, an over-25s House music event brand born in London, dedicated to daytime parties for the 25–50+ crowd. The brand focuses on creating events that bring together old friends and new faces, leveraging Masterstepz's over two decades of experience.
Masterstepz became the first and only UK DJ to be signed to Violator, an American record label and management company. This partnership places him alongside artists such as Diddy, LL Cool J, 50 Cent, and Busta Rhymes, indicating a significant expansion of his influence into the US market.
Through his partnership with N'Dulge, Masterstepz was involved in projects supporting various charities. These include Street Child Nepal, Larchfield Kids, the Foundation for African Empowerment, and SOS Children's, demonstrating his engagement in philanthropic initiatives.
Tommy Masters, known professionally as Masterstepz, is a DJ and producer from East London, UK. His career began with a significant presence at Choice FM, a London urban music station, where he garnered a Sony Award for his contributions. During this period, he also began establishing himself in the club circuit, with his first recorded event on RA dating back to 2000. He is recognized as a pioneering figure in the UK Garage phenomenon of the late 1990s.
Masterstepz’s career progressed both as a DJ and a producer. He released his first tracks in 1998, including “Melody / You Know How,” followed by “R U Ready” in 1999 featuring Richie Dan. A notable turning point was in 2001 with the release of “Sorry (You Lied To Me)” with Celetia, and his involvement with Ministry of Sound on albums like “Real Garage” and “Ayia Napa (The Album 2001).” He has held residencies at international venues in locations such as Dubai and Miami, in addition to frequent performances at prominent London clubs like Ministry Of Sound and Building Six. His global reach expanded further when he became the first UK DJ to join the Violator roster.
Beyond his DJ sets, Masterstepz has consistently released his own productions and contributed to various mixes. He has remixed tracks for major artists such as Destiny’s Child, Janet Jackson, Basement Jaxx, and Mis-Teeq. His work has seen him play at private events for public figures including Ashley and Cheryl Cole, and David Beckham, as well as after-parties for artists like Usher and Beyoncé. He is also a co-founder of House of Stepz, an event series focusing on daytime parties for older audiences, further demonstrating his impact on the music scene.
