Nekrogoblikon has carved a distinct niche in the metal scene, offering a blend of melodic death metal and theatrical performance that appeals to a diverse audience. After establishing a unique identity with their goblin-themed melodic death metal, Nekrogoblikon achieved widespread recognition in 2012 with the viral music video ‘No One Survives.’ Directed by Brandon Dermer and starring Dave Rispoli as John Goblikon, the video garnered over 1.5 million views in its initial three months, propelling the bands public profile and cementing John Goblikon as a core touring hypeman and mascot. Formed in 2006 by Nicky Calonne and Tim Lyakhovetskiy, the band debuted with the self-released album ‘Goblin Island’ in 2007, followed by ‘Stench’ in 2011, which earned positive reviews for its technical proficiency and innovative integration of electronic elements. Building on their breakthrough, Nekrogoblikon released the ‘Power’ EP in 2013, embarking on an extensive European tour that included performances at the Download Festival in England, and Rock am Ring and Rock im Park in Germany.
In 2023, the band underwent a significant lineup change with the departure of founding vocalist Nicky Calonne. John Goblikon, portrayed by Grady Welch, and Dickie Allen officially stepped into the roles of lead vocalists, ushering in a new phase for Nekrogoblikon. Demonstrating their evolving media presence, ‘Right Now with John Goblikon’ transitioned into a podcast series in 2024. Their high-energy live shows and unique thematic approach, consistently featuring John Goblikon’s interactive presence, continue to solidify their distinct position within the melodic death metal genre, making them a compelling live act for diverse audiences.
