Louisa Rose Allen, known professionally as Foxes, was born on April 29, 1989, in Southampton, Hampshire, England. Her musical journey began at an early age, with her writing music from the age of 14. She relocated to London at 18 to pursue her vocal ambitions, later attending the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance before choosing to focus on writing and performing. Adopting the stage name Foxes in 2011, she launched her career with her debut single “Youth” in January 2012 on Neon Gold Records. The song, along with another track, “Home,” gained early exposure through their inclusion in the American television series *Gossip Girl*.
Her career gained significant momentum when “Youth” attracted the attention of German DJ Zedd, leading to her feature on his song “Clarity.” Released in late 2012, “Clarity” became a global success in 2013, peaking at number eight on the U.S. *Billboard* Hot 100 and reaching number one on the Hot Dance Club Songs chart. This collaboration earned Zedd and Foxes a Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards in 2014. Following this success, Foxes released her debut album, *Glorious*, in May 2014, which debuted at number five on the UK Albums Chart. Key singles from *Glorious* included “Let Go for Tonight” and “Holding onto Heaven,” which achieved top ten and top fifteen positions on the UK Singles Chart, respectively.
Foxes has supported major artists on tour, including Marina and the Diamonds in 2012, and Pharrell’s Dear Girl Tour in 2014. In 2016, she joined Coldplay’s A Head Full of Dreams Tour across Europe and North America. She released her second album, *All I Need*, in February 2016, featuring singles like “Body Talk” and “Amazing.” After a four-year hiatus, Foxes returned in 2020 with new music, signing a deal with PIAS Recordings. She released her EP *Friends in the Corner* in 2021 and her third studio album, *The Kick*, in February 2022. Beyond music, Foxes has also appeared as an actress, including a role in *Doctor Who* in 2014, performing Queen’s “Don’t Stop Me Now.”
