Nicolas Jaar

Nicolas Jaar is a Chilean-American composer and musician known for his innovative electronic, experimental, and ambient music, as well as his work as a record producer and label founder. After his debut release, ‘The Student,’ on the Wolf + Lamb label in 2007, Nicolas Jaar quickly established himself in the New York underground dance scene with his innovative electronic, experimental, and ambient compositions. His critically acclaimed debut album, ‘Space Is Only Noise,’ released in January 2011, earned numerous accolades, including being named the number one album of the year by prestigious publications such as Resident Advisor, Mixmag, and Crack Mag. Following its release, Jaar embarked on a three-year international tour, during which he was consistently voted the number one Live Act on Resident Advisor.

That same year, he demonstrated his versatile production skills by co-producing FKA Twigs’ highly acclaimed album ‘Magdalene.’ The year 2020 was marked by a flurry of new releases, including the solo albums ‘Cenizas’ and ‘Telas,’ alongside ‘2017-2019’ under his Against All Logic moniker. His collaborative project Darkside also saw continued activity, releasing the album ‘Spiral’ in 2021. Demonstrating his ongoing evolution as a composer, Jaar collaborated with Ali Sethi in 2023 for ‘Intiha,’ a unique project merging traditional ghazal poetry with contemporary improvisation. His creative output continued into 2024 with the release of ‘Piedras 1’ and ‘Piedras 2,’ tracks derived from his distinctive radio play ‘Archivos de Radio Piedras.’ Looking ahead, Jaar is set to release ‘Nothing’ in 2025, a new offering from his Darkside project, further solidifying his reputation as a groundbreaking and consistently innovative artist across multiple platforms.
