Anushka

Anushka is a British electronic duo recognized for their jazz-inflected, future-forward vocal bass music, released on prominent independent labels. After gaining significant early support from influential broadcaster Gilles Peterson for their debut single ‘Yes Guess,’ the British electronic duo Anushka went on to establish a strong presence in the electronic music scene. Comprising producer Max Wheeler and singer-songwriter Victoria Port, Anushka’s unique blend of UK electronic club culture, jazz, and soul influences, creating their signature ‘vocal bass music from the future,’ quickly garnered attention. They signed with Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Recordings, releasing their debut EP, Distorted Air, in 2014.

This project showcased Max Wheeler and Victoria Port’s growing artistic range, delving into darker and more intricate compositions while further cementing their unique blend of jazz-inflected electronic music within the global club scene. The album garnered significant attention for its sophisticated production and poignant songwriting, reinforcing their reputation for forward-thinking vocal bass music. Demonstrating their continued artistic growth and refinement, Anushka released their third album, Ancestry, in 2025 through BBE Music. Hailed as their most accomplished work to date, Ancestry stands as a testament to the duo’s sophisticated songwriting, meticulous arrangements, and innovative production.
