Robert Charles Edward DeLong was born on February 18, 1986, in Bothell, Washington. His early life included developing a background in percussion, influenced by his drummer father. He played in various bands throughout high school and continued his studies in drums at Azusa Pacific University under a scholarship. After graduating, DeLong relocated to Los Angeles, settling into the music scene.
DeLong’s career began with drumming for indie rock bands. A turning point came with his exposure to raves, which inspired him to integrate more electronic elements into his compositions. He became known for his innovative use of video-game peripherals like Wii remotes and joysticks, connected to a MIDI interface, to manipulate and modify his sound during live performances. This distinctive approach quickly established him as an ‘alt electro alchemist.’ In 2013, he released his debut full-length album, “Just Movement,” through Glassnote Records.
Since his debut, DeLong has consistently released new music, including “In the Cards” in 2015, “Walk Like Me” in 2021, and “Playlist of Doom” in September 2024. His work has appeared on Billboard charts, with “Just Movement” reaching 18 on the US Dance/Electronic Albums chart and 34 on the Heatseekers Albums chart. His single “Long Way Down” reached number 3 on the US Alt chart in 2014, and “Favorite Color Is Blue,” featuring K.Flay, was included in the “NHL 19” video game soundtrack. He frequently collaborates with other artists and offers face painting at his shows, led by his partner Heidi Callaway, to foster fan engagement.
