070 Shake

Danielle Balbuena, known professionally as 070 Shake, was born in North Bergen, New Jersey. She began her music career in late 2015, recording songs like “Proud” and “Swervin'”. Her stage name is derived from her affiliation with the 070 music collective, with ‘070’ originating from New Jersey’s ZIP codes. By 2016, her music was gaining significant traction on SoundCloud, with tracks accumulating hundreds of thousands of streams. This early success led to her attracting the attention of Miami-based promoter and social media personality YesJulz, who became her manager. A breakthrough moment came with her single “Trust Nobody,” released in early 2016. Later that year, she collaborated with fellow 070 members Ralphy River, Hack, and Treee Safari on the single “Honey,” which premiered on Complex and 1 AM Radio. In late 2016, 070 Shake signed with Kanye West’s GOOD Music label, an imprint of Def Jam Recordings. The label re-released “Trust Nobody” in September, and she opened for The 1975 during the American leg of their 2016 tour in October and November. The 070 collective released their first mixtape, “The 070 Project: Chapter 1,” on December 8, 2016.

Her solo debut, the 6-track EP “Glitter,” was released on March 23, 2018. This project explored themes of self-esteem issues, substance use, and sexuality. In May 2018, 070 Shake was featured on “Santeria” from Pusha T’s album “Daytona.” She also made guest appearances on Kanye West’s album “Ye,” contributing to the tracks “Ghost Town” and “Violent Crimes,” both of which reached the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100. Her vocal contributions on “Ghost Town” were particularly noted as a highlight of the album. That same month, she also performed on Nas’ album “Nasir.” In 2019, she was featured on DJ Khaled’s album “Father of Asahd.”

070 Shake released her debut studio album, “Modus Vivendi,” on January 17, 2020. Her second studio album, “You Can’t Kill Me,” followed in June 2022, with the single “Lose My Cool” featuring NLE Choppa released in December 2021. In the summer of 2022, she supported Kid Cudi on his To the Moon World Tour as an opening act. A significant milestone occurred in October 2022 when she was featured on Raye’s song “Escapism.” This track gained viral popularity on TikTok, charted internationally, and became her first song to appear on the Billboard Hot 100, later winning Song of the Year at the 2024 Brit Awards. She performed at the 22nd Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in April 2023. Her third studio album, “Petrichor,” was released on November 15, 2024. In 2023, she also toured with Coldplay on their Music of the Spheres World Tour. Her music has been featured in various media, including EA Sports’ FIFA 21, Netflix’s “On My Block,” and NBA 2K22.
