Aaron Gillespie

Aaron Gillespie embarked on his professional music career when he joined the rock band Underoath in 1997, where he served as drummer and provided clean vocals. He significantly shaped the band’s sound, notably introducing clean vocals on their third album, ‘The Changing of Times’ (2002), which helped propel the band towards a distinct metalcore style. Gillespie was also a primary lyricist for pivotal albums, including ‘They’re Only Chasing Safety’. By 2006, Underoath’s album ‘Define the Great Line’ achieved Gold certification from the RIAA, marking a significant commercial milestone for the band.

After stepping away from Underoath in 2010, Gillespie rejoined the band for their reunion in 2015, rekindling their influential presence in the rock scene. Gillespie continued his prolific solo career with the release of ‘Grace Through the Wandering’ in 2015, followed by ‘Out of the Badlands’ in 2016. From 2015 to 2017, he expanded his impact in the music industry by operating Soundcave Studios, where he also served as a producer for various artists, including Collington. His return to Underoath led to new material, with the band releasing the album ‘Erase Me’ in 2018.

The Almost also released their album, ‘Fear Caller’, in 2019, cementing Gillespie’s dual roles within both active projects. Most recently, Gillespie contributed to Underoath’s critically acclaimed album, ‘Voyeurist’, released in 2022. He remains a driving creative force, continuously evolving his sound and approach across his diverse musical ventures. Looking ahead, Gillespie is slated to contribute to Underoath’s upcoming album, ‘The Place After This One’, anticipated for release in 2025, underscoring his enduring commitment and influential role in contemporary rock music.
