Aaron Lee Tasjan

Recognized with the Outstanding Guitarist Award in the Essentially Ellington Competition at Jazz at Lincoln Center, Aaron Lee Tasjan built a career defined by his distinct indie folk rock and genre-fluid compositions. After declining a full scholarship to Berklee College of Music, Tasjan moved to Brooklyn, New York, in 2006. There, he co-formed the band Semi Precious Weapons with Justin Tranter, Cole Whittle, and Dan Crean. Their debut album, ‘We Love You,’ released in 2008 on Razor & Tie Records, was notably produced by Tony Visconti.

He continued this prolific output with ‘Silver Tears’ on October 28, 2016, then ‘Karma For Cheap’ in 2018, and its reimagined version, ‘Karma For Cheap: Reincarnated,’ in 2019. Tasjan released his acclaimed album ‘Tasjan! Tasjan! Tasjan!’ in 2021, further solidifying his artistic voice.

In 2022, his exceptional songwriting garnered a Grammy Award nomination for Best American Roots Song for his significant contributions to Yola’s track ‘Diamond Studded Shoes.’ He has continued to push creative boundaries, culminating in his highly anticipated album, ‘Stellar Evolution,’ released in 2024. This latest work showcases his continued embrace of diverse musical styles and personal narratives, including openly addressing LGBTQ+ issues and themes of sobriety, resonating with a broad audience. Ahead of ‘Stellar Evolution”s release, Tasjan unveiled several singles throughout 2024, including ‘Broken Hearts and Auto Parts,’ ‘Dylan Shades,’ ‘The Drugs Did Me,’ ‘Horror Of It All,’ and ‘I Love America Better Than You.’ These releases provided a compelling preview of the album’s thematic depth and genre exploration, reinforcing his reputation as a dynamic and insightful singer-songwriter, guitarist, and record producer.
