Abhi Sridharan Vaidehi, known professionally as Abhi the Nomad, was born on April 14, 1993, in Madras, India. Early in his life, his diplomat father’s career led the family to reside in various countries including China, Hong Kong, France, the Fiji Islands, and the United States. This nomadic upbringing influenced his stage name. His early musical interests included bands like Blink-182 and Linkin Park, and he has cited Kanye West as a significant gateway into hip-hop music. Vaidehi has developed proficiency in French, Tamil, and English.
His music career began in 2014 with the self-released EP “Beginning.” He continued to release EPs, including “Where Are My Friends” (2015) under OK-Tho Records and “Catharsis” (2016). His debut studio album, “Marbled,” was released on February 9, 2018, under Tommy Boy Records, featuring the popular track “Sex n Drugs.” This was followed by his second studio album, “Modern Trash,” released on October 4, 2019, which addressed environmental themes and included singles like “House of Clocks” and “Me No Evil.” In 2020, Vaidehi signed with UnderCurrent Entertainment.
The 2020s marked a period of continued productivity. He collaborated with producer Kato on the Track for the EP “Abhi Vs Kato” in 2020, releasing a sequel, “Abhi vs Kato II: Gold Standard” in 2023. His third studio album, “Abhi vs the Universe,” was released on September 12, 2021, and saw a deluxe edition released later that year. In August 2022, he embarked on the “Abhi the Nomad: Universe Tour,” a twenty-stop tour supported by Charlie Curtis-Beard. His fourth album, “Abhi vs the Universe II: Heart of the Galaxy,” a sequel to his 2021 album, was released on August 25, 2023. In 2024, he launched his independent label, Universe Goods Co., formed the pop rap group Ice Cream Social, and released his fifth album, “Destroyer,” on June 27, announcing it would be his final album.
