Aesop Rock

Aesop Rock has established himself as a prominent figure in underground and alternative hip hop, known for his intricate lyrical style and innovative production. After independently releasing his first full-length effort, Music for Earthworms in 1997, featuring collaborations with Percee P and garnering significant grassroots attention, Aesop Rock quickly established himself in underground hip hop. His breakthrough came swiftly, signing with Mush Records in 1999 to release Float in 2000. He joined Definitive Jux in 2001, delivering Labor Days (2001), an album celebrated for its thematic depth and marking his debut appearance on the Billboard charts.

He further showcased his artistry and production prowess with the Daylight EP re-release in 2002 and his album Bazooka Tooth in 2003, taking on primary production duties, followed by Build Your Own Bazooka Tooth (2004) and the Fast Cars, Danger, Fire and Knives EP (2005). Aesop Rock expanded his reach beyond traditional music releases, with tracks from Labor Days like ‘Labor’ featured in the popular video game Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4 in 2001, and ‘No Jumper Cables’ remixed for Tony Hawk’s Underground 2 in 2004. In a notable intersection of his music with a global brand, he was commissioned by Nike to create the instrumental track ‘All Day’ for the Nike+iPod running system in 2007. That same year, he released his album None Shall Pass.

He then released his solo album Spirit World Field Guide in 2020, followed by Garbology with Blockhead in 2021, and the single ‘Pumpkin Seeds’ with Lupe Fiasco in 2022. His highly anticipated album, Integrated Tech Solutions, was released in 2023. Looking ahead, Aesop Rock announced and released Black Hole Superette in 2025, continuing his diverse and impactful creative ventures.
