Alaina Castillo

Alaina Castillo was born on November 16, 1999, in Houston, Texas. Her early musical experiences included joining her mother’s church choir. During her freshman year of high school, Castillo began uploading ASMR-inspired song covers to her YouTube channel. These videos, characterized by “lullaby acapella singing” and “sing you to sleep vibes,” garnered millions of views. Recognizing her potential, she started releasing original music in 2018. Her first original song, “Let Me Know,” led to a collaboration with producer Romans and the management group Fine Group Entertainment.

Castillo released her debut EP, “Antisocial Butterfly,” in November 2019 through Romans’ label, Chosen People. This EP featured her debut single, “i don’t think i love you anymore,” her first Spanish-language single, “No Importa,” and “Mentiras.” In March 2020, Spotify selected Castillo as the first artist for the US iteration of its RADAR artist development program, acknowledging her appeal to both pop and Latin audiences. This initiative provided her with dedicated marketing support, a mini-documentary, and Spotify Singles recordings. In April 2020, she released her second EP, “The Voicenotes,” followed by its Spanish counterpart, “Mensajes de Voz.” She continued to release music throughout 2020, including singles such as “Tonight,” “¡Párate!,” and the Christmas song “Wishlist.”

In 2021, Billboard recognized Castillo as a “Latin Artist to Watch,” noting her bilingual skills and broad appeal. She performed “Bésame Mucho” at the 2021 Latin American Music Awards. Her fourth EP, “Parallel Universe Pt 1,” was released in May 2021, and she performed its lead single, “STFU (I Got U),” on “Late Night with Seth Meyers.” Her career progression continued into 2022 and 2023 with appearances at Coachella 2022 and as a co-opening act for Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres World Tour on May 8, 2022. She released her fifth EP, “Fantasies,” in late 2022, and her sixth EP, “Malos Hábitos,” in 2023.
