Alannah Myles

Alannah Myles, a celebrated singer-songwriter known for her Grammy-winning hit “Black Velvet,” brings her powerful vocals and extensive experience to various artistic and media endeavors. After a decade honing her craft across diverse venues and five years dedicated to recording, Alannah Myles released her self-titled debut album in Canada in May 1989 on Atlantic Records (Warner Music Group). This groundbreaking album featured four Top 40 singles, including the international hit ‘Black Velvet,’ ‘Love Is,’ ‘Lover of Mine,’ and ‘Still Got This Thing.’ With its international release in 1990, ‘Black Velvet’ soared to number one globally, leading to Myles earning a Grammy Award for Best Female Rock Vocalist in 1990 and several Canadian Juno Awards. The album achieved Diamond certification in Canada in 1990 for sales exceeding one million – a rare feat for a debut record – and ‘Black Velvet’ received the ASCAP award for over one million radio plays the same year.

Myles remains creatively active, currently working on multiple new music projects including an upcoming blues album, an opera, and a children’s album.
