About

Alexandra Ioana Stan was born on June 10, 1989, in Constanța, Romania. She displayed an early interest in music, participating in various contests, including the Mamaia Music Festival in 2009. In 2009, producers Marcel Prodan and Andrei Nemirschi discovered Stan at a karaoke bar and signed her to their label, Maan Records. Her debut single, “Lollipop (Param Pam Pam)” (2009), gained moderate radio airplay and initiated her performance bookings in Romania.

Stan achieved worldwide recognition with her 2010 single “Mr. Saxobeat.” The song reached number one on the Romanian Top 100 for eight consecutive weeks and subsequently topped charts in several other countries, selling nearly one million copies within a year. It received various certifications, including Platinum from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The success of “Mr. Saxobeat” contributed to the global emergence of Romanian popcorn music. Stan followed this with “Get Back (ASAP)” (2011), which charted within the top 10 in Finland and Romania, and her debut album, “Saxobeats” (2011), which was moderately successful in Japan and Europe. Her achievements earned her a European Border Breakers Award in 2011 and a Japan Gold Disc Award for Best New Artist in 2013.

Following legal issues with her former manager in 2013, Stan released her second album, “Unlocked” (2014), which included singles like “Cherry Pop” and “Dance,” both successful in Japan. She continued her career with the album “Alesta” (2016), featuring the collaboration “We Wanna” with Inna and Daddy Yankee, which charted in multiple countries and was certified Gold in Italy. In 2016, she launched her own label, Alexandra Stan Records. Her fourth album, “Mami,” was released in 2018, and she featured on Manuel Riva’s “Miami” (2018), which reached the top ten on Billboard’s Dance Club Songs chart. In 2022, she released her fifth studio album, “Rainbows,” followed by her first full Romanian album, “Energia Ta,” in 2024.
