Alfa Mist

Alfa Mist, a British musician and producer, began his professional journey in East Ham, London, where he taught himself to create beats as a teenager. His passion for music blossomed through the hip-hop sampling of influential artists like Hi-Tek, Madlib, and J Dilla. This exploration led him to jazz, prompting him to learn piano by ear, which became a cornerstone of his unique production style. His debut EP, “Nocturne,” released in 2015, marked the beginning of his ascent in the music industry, showcasing his ability to blend hip-hop with jazz improvisation.

In 2017, Alfa Mist released his first album, “Antiphon,” which received critical acclaim and solidified his reputation as a rising star in the jazz and hip-hop scenes. His subsequent album, “Structuralism,” released in 2019, further demonstrated his growth as an artist, featuring intricate compositions that highlighted his skills as both a musician and a producer. His work during this period not only expanded his discography but also attracted collaborations with notable artists such as Jordan Rakei and Tom Misch.

Alfa Mist’s 2021 album, “Bring Backs,” released under the American label Anti-, showcased his evolution as an artist, blending personal narratives with rich musical textures. His performance at the We Out Here Festival that same year further established him as a prominent figure in contemporary music. Additionally, he was nominated for the MOBO Awards, recognizing his contributions to the genre.

Continuing to innovate, Alfa Mist released his latest album, “Variables,” in 2023, which has been praised for its depth and creativity. As the founder of his own label, Sekito, he remains committed to nurturing new talent while pushing the boundaries of jazz and hip-hop. Alfa Mist’s journey is a testament to his dedication and passion for music, making him a significant voice in the modern music landscape.
