Alfa Sekitoleko, known as Alfa Mist, was born in the UK and grew up in Newham, London. He began his musical journey at age 15, initially producing hip-hop beats. His interest in sampling led him to discover jazz, prompting him to teach himself piano by ear after being inspired by a music tutor’s performance of John Legend’s “Ordinary People”. Alfa attended Langdon Academy and Newham Sixth Form College, where he completed A-levels and a BTEC in music composition. This early exposure to varied musical styles and self-directed learning fostered his distinctive sound, which combines hip-hop and club elements with jazz improvisation. Alfa Mist has cultivated a career characterized by consistent output and a commitment to his artistic vision. Since his first solo EP, *Nocturne*, released in 2015, he has established himself through unique productions and expansive jazz arrangements. His work extends to collaborating with various artists, composing neoclassical pieces, and reinterpreting established works, demonstrating a broad spectrum of musical engagement. He heads his own label, Sekito, which he uses to release his own music and support other artists. Alfa Mist continues to push his creativity and has demonstrated an agile approach to live performances, adapting his sound for different venues and collaborations.
