Allah-Las are an American rock band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 2008. The band consists of Miles Michaud (vocals, guitar), Matthew Correia (percussion, vocals), Spencer Dunham (bass, vocals), and Pedrum Siadatian (lead guitar, vocals). Their journey began when school friends Correia and Dunham met Siadatian while working at Amoeba Records. They quickly bonded over their shared passion for music and began jamming together, eventually inviting Michaud to join them, which led to the formation of Allah-Las.
In 2011, the band released their first 7-inch recording, “Catamaran/Long Journey,” produced by Nick Waterhouse. This was followed by their self-titled debut LP in September 2012, which showcased their unique sound influenced by the pop sensibilities of The Zombies and The Kinks. The album received acclaim for its dreamy romanticism and was featured on NPR’s World Café, highlighting their ability to capture the carefree essence of California.
Allah-Las continued to build their reputation through extensive touring, including their first tour along the California coast in 2011 and subsequent tours across the East Coast and Europe. Their second album, “Worship the Sun,” was released in 2014, further solidifying their place in the surf-rock and psychedelic genres. In 2016, they released “Calico Review,” which was recorded at the Valentine Recording Studio in Los Angeles, showcasing their evolving sound.
The band has consistently pushed creative boundaries, releasing their fifth album, “Zuma 85,” in October 2023. Critics have praised their ability to reinvent themselves while maintaining their signature sound. With a strong connection to their Los Angeles roots and a dedication to their craft, Allah-Las continue to captivate audiences with their laid-back grooves and nostalgic melodies.
