Kassim Djae, known professionally as Alonzo, was born on July 25, 1982, in Marseille, France. The youngest of seven children of Comorian origin, he grew up in the Plan d’Aou district and began his musical journey in 2002. He first gained recognition as ‘Segnor Alonzo’ within the Marseille-based hip-hop group Psy 4 de la Rime, alongside Don Vincenzo, Soprano, and DJ Sya Styles. The group released several albums, including “Block Party” (2002), “Enfants de la lune” (2005), “Les cités d’or” (2008), and “4eme dimension” (2013).
Alonzo launched his solo career in 2009 with the release of the album “Un dernier coup d’œil dans le rétroviseur.” His subsequent solo efforts further solidified his position in the French rap industry. The 2012 album “Amour, gloire & cité” featured collaborations with artists such as Kenza Farah, Soprano, and L’Algérino. His continued success was marked by platinum certifications for his 2016 album “Avenue de Saint-Antoine,” which included the popular track “Binta.” This album also led to a significant brand partnership with Puma, celebrating a decade of collaboration. He continued to release successful projects, including “100%” (2017), which achieved platinum status, and “Stone” (2019), which was certified gold.
Throughout his career, Alonzo has consistently delivered new music, frequently collaborating with other notable artists in the French rap scene. His 2021 release, “Capo dei capi – Vol. II & III,” was certified gold, and his 2022 album “Quartiers nord” featured collaborations with artists like Ninho and Naps. Alonzo’s discography includes numerous chart-topping singles and albums, underscoring his enduring influence and success in the French music landscape.
