Archetypes Collide, a quintet hailing from Phoenix, Arizona, has been navigating the rocky terrain of the music world since forming in 2014. The members, Kyle Pastor, Tyler Flamm, Brandon Baker, Jared Knister, and Ky Sanders, began their journey jamming in a local church, an origin that hints at spiritual undercurrents in their music. They got their footing through releases of two EPs and a string of singles, each showcasing a sound rooted in the blend of metalcore and hard rock, gradually gaining traction in their local scene.
Everything shifted when Beartooth’s Oshie Bichar crossed paths with them. His mentorship was no small thing; he helped elevate their sound, leading to airplay on SiriusXM’s Octane channel with tracks like “Your Misery” and “Above It All.” But the band’s identity isn’t strictly linked to any scene. Although they’ve played with elements of Christian music in their lyrics, they resist the label, capable of drawing in both secular and faith-centric audiences. It’s the ambiguity that makes them relatable, not confining.
Then came 2022, a landmark year. After catching the eye of veteran manager Thomas Gutches, Archetypes Collide signed a major deal with Fearless Records. A tour with The Amity Affliction boosted their profile further. By March 31, 2023, they were ready to share their self-titled debut album with the world. Their performances are described as energetic, yet there’s something grounded in their humble beginnings that resonates just as strongly.
With their feet now firmly planted in the rock scene, Archetypes Collide encapsulates the struggle and triumph of modern bands, carving their niche while staying true to the roots that initially shaped their sound. This blend of ambition, talent, and restless energy continues to draw fans both young and old, creating a diverse audience hungry for more from their new favorite band.
