Arthur Nery

Arthur Madrigalejos Nery, born on January 28, 1997, in Cagayan de Oro City, emerged from a musical family, with both parents being singers. His initial public performance occurred at the age of eight, where he sang “Fly Me to the Moon” at a family event. Despite this early exposure, a music career was not his immediate aspiration. He pursued higher education at Xavier University — Ateneo de Cagayan, majoring in Psychology. During his college years, Nery joined the glee club, receiving formal vocal training, and began writing songs consistently in high school. Prior to his full-time music career, he gained professional experience working as a call center agent and later as an online English tutor for Japanese students.

Nery’s entry into the professional music scene began following a performance at comedian Wacky Kiray’s show in Bukidnon. This event led to an introduction to Kean Cipriano, frontman of Callalily, who had recently established his own label, O/C Records. On the same evening, Nery signed with O/C Records. His debut album, “Letters Never Sent,” was released in 2019 under Viva Records. He gained significant recognition in 2021 with the release of his hit single “Pagsamo,” which achieved notable chart success, reaching number four on the PHL Songs chart and number 53 on the Philippines Hot 100. Another single, “Isa Lang,” also performed well, reaching number three on PHL Songs and number 10 on the Philippines Hot 100.

Throughout his career, Arthur Nery has continued to release music and achieve critical acclaim. In 2022, he received multiple nominations at the Wish Music Awards, including Wish Artist of the Year, and won Wishclusive Contemporary R&B Performance of the Year for “Binhi” and Wish R&B Song of the Year for “Take All The Love.” In 2023, his song “Pagsamo” won Wish Contemporary R&B Song of the Year, and “Pelikula” (with Janine Teñoso) was recognized with a Wishclusive Elite Circle – Bronze award. He consistently collaborates with other artists and contributes to various projects, solidifying his position within the OPM landscape.
