Automatic is a dynamic rock band hailing from Los Angeles, comprised of talented members Izzy Glaudini, Halle Saxon, and Lola Dompé. The trio formed in 2017, emerging from the vibrant DIY music scene in L.A. Their name pays homage to the iconic track “Automatic” from The Go-Go’s celebrated album, Beauty and the Beat, reflecting their roots in influential music history. In June 2019, they signed with the esteemed Stones Throw label, marking a significant milestone in their professional journey.
The band’s debut album, Signal, was announced with the release of their first single, “Calling It,” on June 3, 2019. This was followed by two additional singles, including a captivating cover of Delta 5’s “Mind Your Own Business” and the title track, “Signal.” Released on September 27, 2019, Signal received critical acclaim, with Pitchfork praising it as “an exercise in post-punk and no-wave galvanism.” This recognition solidified Automatic’s place in the contemporary music landscape.
In March 2021, Automatic showcased their versatility with the release of Signal Remixes, featuring reworks from notable artists such as Peanut Butter Wolf and Sudan Archives. This project highlighted their ability to collaborate and innovate within the music community, further expanding their artistic reach.
On March 8, 2022, Automatic announced their sophomore album, Excess, with the infectious single “New Beginning.” The follow-up single, “Venus Hour,” released on April 7, 2022, continued to build anticipation for the album, which was released on June 24, 2022.
