Bayaan, an alternative rock band originating from Lahore, Pakistan, was established in 2015. The band consists of Asfar Hussain (vocalist), Haider Abbas (bassist), Shahrukh Aslam (guitarist), Muqeet Shahzad (guitarist), and Mansoor Lashari (drummer). The group’s foundation stems from the long-standing musical collaboration between Shahzad and Abbas, who played together in a school band for over a decade. Their journey continued into the underground music circuit, where they met Mansoor Lashari. Subsequently, Lashari and Abbas, while participating in Nescafe Basement, connected with Hussain and Aslam, leading to the formation of Bayaan. The band’s early career involved performances across Pakistan, building a regional following.
Bayaan gained significant national recognition in 2018 by winning Pepsi Battle of the Bands Season 3. This achievement marked a turning point, securing their position in the Pakistani music scene. Following this success, the band released their debut album, ‘Suno,’ on February 2nd at the Lahore Music Meet festival. The album features nine songs and reflects the band’s collective influences while maintaining their distinct sound. In addition to their band projects, individual members have also seen career progression; for example, Asfar Hussain, the lead vocalist, contributed his songwriting and composing talents to “Mehram,” a song featured in Coke Studio Season 14 alongside Arooj Aftab.
The band’s musical contributions extend to film, with their song “Nahi Milta” featured in the film *Yalghaar*. Bayaan continues to perform internationally, including a past appearance at Dubai Expo and a planned ‘Safar Tour’ which took them to Bangladesh in April 2025 following the release of their sophomore album, *Safar*. These engagements illustrate the band’s expanding reach and ongoing musical endeavors. They are managed by their bassist, Haider Abbas.
