Blackhawk is an American country music group founded in 1992 by the talented musicians Henry Paul, Van Stephenson, and Dave Robbins, all of whom already had successful musical careers before coming together. Prior to the group’s foundation, Henry Paul had been a member of the famous Southern rock band Outlaws, while Van Stephenson had been a solo rock artist with a string of chart-topping hits to his name.
After forming their group, Blackhawk quickly found success. In 1993, the trio was signed to a record deal with Arista Nashville, and their debut single “Goodbye Says It All” shattered records by becoming a number one hit on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart. This song was just the beginning for Blackhawk, as they went on to release many more successful hits, including “Every Once in a While,” “I’m Not Strong Enough to Say No,” and “I Sure Can Smell the Rain.”
Even after the passing of Van Stephenson in 2001, Blackhawk maintained their momentum and continued to release new music. To date, the group has released seven studio albums and has sold over 7 million records in total. Blackhawk’s unique blend of rock and country music has earned them a dedicated fan base and critical acclaim, and they remain one of the most beloved country music groups of all time.
Despite the personal and professional challenges that the group has faced over the years, Blackhawk’s music continues to inspire and move people across the world. From their founding in 1992 to their present-day success, Henry Paul, Van Stephenson, and Dave Robbins have left an indelible mark on the history of country music, and their legacy will continue to live on for generations to come.
