Emily Osment

Emily Jordan Osment was born on March 10, 1992, in Los Angeles, California. Her early career began in commercials, including a radio spot with Dick Van Dyke, before her film debut in “The Secret Life of Girls” (1999). That same year, she appeared in the Hallmark film “Sarah, Plain and Tall: Winter’s End” alongside Glenn Close and Christopher Walken, earning a Best Young Actor nomination. She also took on smaller television roles in series such as “3rd Rock from the Sun,” “Touched by an Angel,” and “Friends.” Her voice acting work included the animated short “Edwurd Fudwupper Fibbed Big.”

Osment gained significant recognition for her role as Gerti Giggles in “Spy Kids 2: Island of Lost Dreams” (2002) and its sequel “Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over” (2003). A turning point in her career was her role as Lilly Truscott in the Disney Channel series “Hannah Montana” (2006–2011), where she co-starred with Miley Cyrus. This role extended to “Hannah Montana: The Movie” (2009). The success of “Hannah Montana” led to musical opportunities, including recording songs for Disney soundtracks and eventually signing with Wind-Up Records in 2009. She released her debut EP, “All the Right Wrongs” (2009), followed by her studio album, “Fight or Flight” (2010).

Her career progressed with leading roles in various television projects, including the TV movie “Cyberbully” (2011), for which she received critical acclaim. She also starred in the Freeform series “Young & Hungry” (2014–2018), earning three Teen Choice Award nominations. More recently, she held a recurring role as Theresa in “The Kominsky Method” (2018–2021) and a main role in “Pretty Smart” (2021) on Netflix. From 2022 to 2024, she was a series regular as Mandy McAllister in “Young Sheldon” and currently stars in its spin-off series, “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage” (2024–present). Beyond acting, Osment has continued her musical endeavors under the alias Bluebiird.
