Body Count

Body Count, the American heavy metal band co-founded by vocalist and lyricist Ice-T and lead guitarist Ernie C, made its initial album appearance on Ice-T’s 1991 solo album, O.G. Original Gangster, with their self-titled track. The group’s highly anticipated debut album, Body Count, was released in 1992 through Sire Records. This album quickly garnered significant attention, notably for the controversial track ‘Cop Killer.’ Despite initial defense, Ice-T made the decision to remove the song from the album, feeling the intense public debate overshadowed the band’s musical message.

Maintaining their commitment to addressing pertinent social and political issues through their distinct fusion of heavy metal and hardcore punk, Body Count continued to evolve their sound. The band unveiled their latest album, Merciless, in November 2024. This release further demonstrates Body Count’s unwavering dedication to their artistic vision and their role as a powerful, resonant voice in contemporary music, consistently delivering impactful and uncompromising works to their global fanbase.
