Bronson is an Australian-American electronic dance music trio, officially formed in early 2019. The group comprises Harrison Mills and Clayton Knight of the Grammy-nominated duo Odesza, and Thomas George Stell, better known as the Australian record producer Golden Features. Their working relationship began to solidify after Odesza’s 2018 performance at St Jerome’s Laneway Festival, following earlier expressions of mutual admiration and the exchange of demos via Dropbox.
The trio deepened their collaboration with studio sessions conducted remotely via FaceTime before meeting in person. This concentrated effort led to the creation of their self-titled debut studio album, “Bronson,” which was recorded between 2018 and 2020. The album was released on August 7, 2020, through Warner Music Australia internationally and via Ninja Tune and Odesza’s own Foreign Family Collective label in Australia. The album debuted at number 22 on the ARIA Albums Chart in Australia and reached number 5 on the US Top Dance/Electronic Albums Chart. The album’s themes explore the duality of lightness and darkness inherent in the human condition, reflecting on personal struggles and broader societal issues.
From the “Bronson” album, four singles were released: “Heart Attack” (April 28, 2020), “Vaults” (April 28, 2020), “Dawn” (June 30, 2020), and “Keep Moving” (July 21, 2020). These releases showcased their distinctive sound, characterized by a fusion of house, electro, and EDM elements with intricate melodies and thought-provoking themes. The project is a notable development for all members, expanding their individual creative outputs into a cohesive and acclaimed collaborative effort.
