Baby Tron

James Edward Johnson IV, known professionally as BabyTron, was born on June 6, 2000, in Ypsilanti, Michigan. He developed an interest in music at a young age, beginning to take it seriously at 13. During his high school years at Lincoln High School in Ypsilanti, he co-founded the rap trio ShittyBoyz alongside his childhood friends TrDee and StanWill. Concurrently, BabyTron began independently releasing solo music, including mixtapes, on various streaming platforms. This early dedication laid the groundwork for his future career in the hip-hop scene. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 2018.

BabyTron’s career gained significant momentum with the release of his 2019 mixtape, “BIN Reaper.” This project featured the track “Jesus Shuttlesworth,” which rapidly went viral within the hip-hop community, generating numerous memes and increasing his visibility. Following this success, he continued to release music consistently, including his first album, “Sleeve Nash,” in 2020, and “Back to the Future” later that year. In 2021, he collaborated with Lil Yachty on the song “Hybrid” from the “Michigan Boy Boat” mixtape, further solidifying his presence in the industry. The same year saw him release two solo and two collaborative mixtapes, including “BIN Reaper 2,” which featured artists like Lil Yachty and Miles Bridges.

The year 2022 marked a turning point for BabyTron, as he gained wider recognition through a series of tracks showcasing his ability to rap over various popular beats. His tracks “Prince of the Mitten” and “King of the Galaxy” exemplified this style. He released the albums “Megatron” and “6” through Empire Distribution and The Hip Hop Lab. A notable achievement in 2022 was his selection for the XXL Freshman Class, a significant honor in the hip-hop world. His single “Emperor of the Universe,” accompanied by a Cole Bennett-directed music video, further boosted his profile. His mixtape “BIN Reaper 3: Old Testament” peaked at number 69 on the Billboard 200, marking his first entry on the chart. He continued this momentum into 2023 with “BIN Reaper 3: New Testament,” which also charted on the Billboard 200. In 2024, BabyTron was featured on Eminem’s single “Tobey” alongside Big Sean, a collaboration that brought him to a broader audience. He also released his sixth album, “Tronicles,” in November 2024.
