About

Brutus emerged from Leuven, Belgium, in 2013, solidifying a lineup consisting of Stefanie Mannaerts on vocals and drums, Stijn Vanhoegaerden on guitar, and Peter Mulders on bass. The trio quickly established a presence in the Belgian music scene, performing at various festivals and releasing a series of two-song EPs throughout 2015. Their distinctive sound, characterized by a fusion of genres including post-hardcore and elements of mathcore and black metal, garnered early attention.

The band’s international breakthrough occurred in 2017 with the release of their debut album, “Burst.” This album led to a significant milestone: signing with Sargent House, a prominent record label known for its diverse roster of artists. “Burst” received critical acclaim and notable recognition from influential musicians such as Lars Ulrich of Metallica, who featured their single “Drive” on his Apple Music radio show. Following the success of their debut, Brutus embarked on tours with established bands like Chelsea Wolfe and Russian Circles, further expanding their reach.

Brutus continued their career progression with the release of “Nest” in 2019, which achieved commercial success, reaching No. 4 on the Belgian album chart. This period also saw their first significant United States tour, including a performance at the Dia de los Deftones festival. In 2022, they released their third album, “Unison Life,” which continued to build upon their earlier achievements, reaching No. 6 in Belgium and No. 73 in Germany. The band has since maintained a rigorous touring schedule, appearing at major festivals such as Rock am Ring, Download, and Roadburn, cementing their reputation as a dynamic and compelling live act.
