Charlotte Cardin-Goyer, born on November 9, 1994, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, began her career as a model at 15, appearing in various advertising campaigns, including Barilà. Her musical journey gained significant public attention in 2013 when she participated in the first season of the TVA singing competition “La Voix,” where she reached the Top 4. Later that year, she was featured on Garou’s album “Au milieu de ma vie,” performing a duet on the single “Du vent, des mots,” and subsequently performed the song with Garou on “The Voice: la plus belle voix” in France in 2014.
Cardin’s solo career progressed with the release of her debut EP, “Big Boy,” in 2016 through Cult Nation Records. This EP showcased both English and French tracks, featuring collaborations such as Nate Husser on “Like It Doesn’t Hurt.” “Big Boy” was recognized with a SOCAN Songwriting Prize nomination in the French division for “Les échardes.” In 2017, she released her second EP, “Main Girl.” Her continued development led to two Juno Award nominations in 2018 for “Breakthrough Artist of the Year” and “Songwriter of the Year” for her work on “Main Girl,” “Paradise Motion,” and “The Kids.” Her debut full-length album, “Phoenix,” released in April 2021, marked a significant milestone, earning multiple Juno Awards in 2022, including Artist of the Year, Single of the Year for “Meaningless,” Pop Album of the Year, and Album of the Year. This album was co-written with her long-term manager, Jason Brando of Cult Nation.
In 2023, Cardin released her second album, “99 Nights,” which received the Juno Awards in 2024 for Pop Album of the Year and Album of the Year, also being shortlisted for the 2024 Polaris Music Prize. She expanded her discography with EPs like “Une semaine à Paris” and “A Week in Nashville.” Beyond her individual projects, Cardin has engaged in various collaborations, such as with producer CRi for a cover of Daniel Bélanger’s “Fous n’importe où” in 2019, and with rapper Loud on his album “Tout ça pour ça.” Her career has been marked by consistent recognition in the Canadian music industry, with numerous nominations and awards solidifying her position as a prominent artist.
