Christopher Michael Mann, born on May 5, 1982, in Wichita, Kansas, developed an early interest in music. He pursued formal training, graduating from Wichita Southeast High School in 2000, and subsequently earned a degree in vocal performance from Vanderbilt University’s Blair School of Music in 2004. Early in his career, Mann gained experience performing in an Italian opera in Europe before relocating to Los Angeles. In Los Angeles, his talents were utilized in various studio and group singing capacities, contributing to films such as ‘Avatar’, ‘Tangled’, and ‘Sex and the City 2’, and television series like ‘Glee’. He also performed at events including the Sundance Film Festival and the AFI Life Achievement Award.
Mann gained significant public recognition in 2012 as a contestant on the second season of NBC’s singing competition, ‘The Voice’. As part of Christina Aguilera’s team, he advanced to the final round, ultimately achieving fourth place. Following his appearance on ‘The Voice’, Mann released his debut studio album, ‘Roads’, on October 30, 2012, and a Christmas EP the same year. He further expanded his musical offerings with a PBS concert special, “Chris Mann in Concert: A Mann for all Seasons,” which aired in December 2012 and nationally in March 2013, followed by a Christmas special, ‘Home for Christmas: The Chris Mann Christmas Special’, in 2013.
From 2015, Mann embarked on a two-year tour with the North American production of ‘The Phantom of the Opera’, where he held the lead role. In 2016, he released his second studio album, ‘Constellation’. More recently, in 2020, Mann garnered viral attention for his COVID-19-themed musical parodies on YouTube, which featured adaptations of popular songs by artists like Adele and Lil Nas X. These parodies effectively engaged a broad audience and demonstrated his versatility beyond traditional musical theater and classical crossover genres.
