Chris Shiflett

Chris Shiflett is an American musician recognized as the lead guitarist for the Grammy Award-winning rock band Foo Fighters and has contributed to numerous punk rock projects and solo work. After joining the Grammy Award-winning rock band Foo Fighters as their lead guitarist in 1999, Chris Shiflett became an integral part of their multi-platinum success and global touring. Prior to this, Shiflett honed his craft in the San Francisco Bay Area punk rock scene, joining No Use for a Name in the mid-1990s and contributing to their albums including Making Friends (1997) and More Betterness! (1999).

In 1995, he also became a member of Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, releasing Have a Ball (1997) and Are a Drag (1999), before his pivotal move to Foo Fighters. Shiflett’s tenure with Foo Fighters commenced with their acclaimed album One by One in 2002, followed by a string of successful releases including In Your Honor (2005), Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace (2007), Wasting Light (2011), Sonic Highways (2014), Saint Cecilia (EP) (2015), and Concrete and Gold (2017). His significant contributions culminated in his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Foo Fighters in 2021. Concurrently, Shiflett maintained several side projects, releasing further albums with Me First and the Gimme Gimmes such as Blow in the Wind (2001), Take a Break (2003), Love Their Country (2006), and Are We Not Men?

Further expanding his digital footprint, he launched a new guitar-focused podcast, Shred with Shifty, in June 2023. His career underscores a dynamic blend of collaborative rock supergroup success and individual artistic exploration across punk rock, alternative rock, country, and hard rock genres, cementing his consistent presence and influence in the music industry.
