He first gained prominence as a founding member of Manfred Mann’s Earth Band, where he played from 1971 to 1978. During this period, Slade contributed to eight studio albums, helping the band achieve three UK Top Ten singles, including the iconic “Blinded By The Light,” which reached number one in the USA. In the late 1980s, Slade joined AC/DC, stepping in as their drummer after Simon Wright’s departure.
