Dark Funeral is a renowned Swedish black metal band formed in 1993 in Stockholm by guitarists Blackmoon and Lord Ahriman. They quickly established themselves as a significant force in the black metal scene, releasing their self-titled EP in 1994, which showcased their intense sound and thematic focus on Satanism and anti-Christianity. Their debut full-length album, “The Secrets of the Black Arts,” released in 1996, further solidified their reputation, featuring powerful tracks that resonated with fans and critics alike.

Throughout their career, Dark Funeral has consistently evolved, with notable contributions from various members. The arrival of Emperor Magus Caligula in 1995 marked a shift in their lyrical themes towards blasphemy and anti-Christian rhetoric.
