deca joins, a Taiwanese indie rock sensation, emerged onto the music scene in 2013, igniting a fervor for their unique blend of indie, grunge, and lo-fi sounds. Founded in Taipei, Taiwan, by Zheng Jingru (vocals, guitar), Yang Shanghua (guitar), Xie Junyan (bass), and Chen Huanggu (drums), the band has garnered widespread acclaim for their distinctive musical style.
Originally known as FUBAR, the band underwent a series of name changes before settling on deca joins in January 2017, a moniker derived from the fusion of “decadent” and “decaffeination,” reflecting their eclectic and unconventional approach to music.
In April 2017, deca joins released their breakthrough album “Bathroom,” captivating audiences both domestically and internationally. The album’s success propelled the band onto tours across Taiwan and Mainland China, solidifying their position as rising stars in the indie rock scene.
Continuing their upward trajectory, deca joins released “Go Slow” in November 2018, featuring the hit single “Wave,” which amassed over 1.5 million views on YouTube. The music video for “Go Slow” earned the band a nomination for the prestigious Golden Melody Award for Best Music Video in 2019.
In December 2020, deca joins treated fans to their latest offering, “Bird and Reflections,” earning them another Golden Melody Award nomination for Best Band. Undeterred by the challenges of the pandemic, the band embarked on their ambitious “Reverie’s Edge” tour in 2023, captivating audiences with their electrifying performances and cementing their status as one of Taiwan’s most exciting indie rock acts.
