Dharius

Alán Alejandro Maldonado Tamez, known professionally as Dharius, was born in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico. He commenced his musical career in 1996, eventually joining the hip-hop group Cartel de Santa in 1999 as MC Dharius. During his tenure with Cartel de Santa, the group released several albums that significantly contributed to the Latin hip-hop scene. Key albums include their self-titled debut in 2003, which featured hits “Perros” and “Todas Mueren por Mí,” and the follow-up “Vol. 2” in 2004, which saw collaborations with artists like Tego Calderón. The group’s albums, including “Volumen ProIIIbido” (2007) and “Vol. IV” (2008), achieved commercial success and critical recognition, with “Sincopa” (2010) earning a Latin Grammy nomination.

Dharius concluded his involvement with Cartel de Santa in 2013, with “Me Alegro de Su Odio” being his final composition with the group. Following his departure in 2014, he launched a solo career marked by a distinct sound and lyrical content. His debut solo album, “Directo Hasta Arriba,” was released in 2014 under Sony BMG and RCA Records. This album featured tracks such as “Homicidha” and “El After Porky.” He continued to release successful solo material, including “Mala Fama, Buena Vidha” in 2018 and “Cuando Todo Acaba” in 2022. Dharius has consistently maintained a presence in the Latin hip-hop community, performing at various venues and collaborating with other artists, establishing his independent artistic identity.
