DPR Ian has evolved from a K-pop idol and visual director to a genre-defying solo artist and co-founder of Dream Perfect Regime (DPR), influencing both music and visual media. After debuting as Rome, the leader of the six-member K-pop boy group C-Clown under Yedang Entertainment in 2012, DPR Ian went on to co-found Dream Perfect Regime (DPR) in October 2015 alongside Live, Cream, and REM. This collective allowed him to expand his artistic contributions significantly, embracing roles as a director and producer. Under DPR, he gained recognition for his distinct visual arts direction, having helmed music videos for DPR Live, including ‘Jasmine,’ ‘Legacy,’ and ‘Yellow Cab,’ as well as his own tracks like ‘So Beautiful,’ ‘No Blueberries,’ and ‘Ballroom Extravaganza.’ His directorial talent also extended to external artists, directing videos such as Bobby’s ‘HOLUP,’ Mino’s ‘Body,’ and Taeyang’s ‘Wake Me Up.’ DPR Ian made his solo music debut with the digital single ‘So Beautiful’ on October 26, 2020.
His impact as a solo artist was further underscored in 2022 when he was ranked the 10th most streamed K-pop Male Solo Artist Globally on Spotify, demonstrating his growing international appeal. His artistry often explores complex themes related to mental health, personifying his experiences through intricate music and visual narratives. Continuing his prolific creative work into 2024, DPR Ian directed and appeared in IU’s critically acclaimed ‘Shopper’ music video. He also released his latest extended play, Saint, in 2024, further solidifying his position as a dynamic, genre-defying artist and visual director.
