Adam George Dyment, known as Duke Dumont, was born on August 27, 1981, in Harrow, London, England. His early career was significantly shaped under the mentorship of Switch. Dumont gained initial recognition for remixing pop songs, including tracks for artists such as Lily Allen, Mystery Jets, and Bat for Lashes. In March 2007, he released his first EP, the ‘Regality EP,’ through Turbo Recordings, followed by ‘The Dominion Dubs EP’ on Dubsided in August 2008. He further solidified his presence in the dance music scene by mixing the 2010 FabricLive.51 compilation album for Fabric.
Relocating from London to the Hertfordshire countryside in 2011 marked a turning point, allowing him to concentrate on developing original material. This shift led to a breakthrough period starting in 2012, with the release of ‘For Club Play Only Vol. 1’ and ‘Vol. 2’ on Tiga’s Turbo Recordings. These EPs received radio play from prominent BBC Radio 1 personalities Annie Mac and Fearne Cotton, as well as Trevor Nelson on BBC Radio 1Xtra. His single “Need U (100%)” featuring A*M*E, released in March 2013, achieved commercial success, reaching number one on the UK Singles Chart and securing a Grammy nomination for “Best Dance Recording” in 2014. This was followed by “I Got U,” featuring Jax Jones, which also topped the UK Singles Chart in 2014 and received a Grammy nomination in the same category the following year. Other notable singles include “Won’t Look Back” (2014), which reached number two, and “Ocean Drive” (2015).
Dumont launched his record label, Blasé Boys Club, which he also used as an alias for production. His debut album, ‘Duality,’ was released on April 17, 2020, followed by the announcement of his second album, ‘Union,’ set for release on July 25, 2025. He has broadened his creative scope through collaborations with artists like MNEK and AME and has undertaken production credits for major artists such as Katy Perry, co-producing her 2017 single “Swish Swish.” His focus has increasingly shifted to the live electronic music experience, evidenced by his 2022 Coachella set and subsequent performances at venues including Red Rocks and The Mirage, incorporating custom visuals and stage design.
